I Met Robby

sept. 1995 while on my honeymoon with deneen(wife). met robby at the swim up bar at the pool at the hotel finisterra in cabo. we had a couple of drinks, played water volleyball, talked racing( i am also in the racing industry). then we went to the IRL race in las vegas in 1996 and saw him again at his souvineer trailer. he remembered us from cabo. we only talked to him for a minute because the line was waiting behind us!!!

During qualifying for the 2006 Parker 425, my nephew Derek and I went way out to a spot on Shea Road where the course runs right by
the road to take pictures. We got great shots of most of the competitors and some good ones of Robby. He was back from Dakar
in the Toyo Hummer and raced it at that race, which he won. The Hummer was street legal because it was raced in Dakar and that
was a requirement over there, it had an Arizona license plate that read "2DAKAR". The qualifying was about over and we left to
home (Blythe, CA, about 45 miles away) back down Shea Road. I noticed a vehicle parked on the other side of the road facing
the other direction. It was Robby Gordon sitting in his Hummer with the drivers door lifted up. I stopped and went to
see if he needed help and he said everything was cool, he was waiting for his crew to give one of the guys the key to their garage
back. My nephew and I stayed there and talked with him about 20 minutes, in the middle of no where, like we all knew each other
our entire lives. He was very friendly. We talked about his qualifying and he wanted to know how he did. I told him
he was very fast, maybe Rob MacCachern was a little faster. He didn't like the sound of that. I told him he was the only
one on two wheels all the way up a long uphill sweeping left-hander with a little launch pad at the bottom. He liked that. His
crew finally came and got the key from him and he said he was going to go fill up then park the car at his friends house till the race
on Saturday. It was cool to talk with Robby out there like that, I will never forget it.
Where can I get a robbygordonrocks.com window decal. Great web site, thanks !!

I recently met several of his employees at a race---not just the garage crew but some from all aspects of the corporation. Though
I know several other drivers and crew members, Robby's people were treated with respect, able to attend races, sit in a suite, not
just employees, more like family though with the high expectations and passion that comes from Robby himself. He is one of
the very few people in the world who can drive anything you give him. Witness his off-road successes as well as the other
vehicles that he has driven over the years. Anyone who judges NASCAR drivers by their tv persona is missing out on wonderful
people especially Robby Gordon. I truly hope he is able to coordinate with another organization while remaining an
owner/driver. Having the ability to share information as well as grow his company will go far.
Don't ever lose that passion, compassion, and care for others!

Well, I met Robby in Sept of 2006. I had driven with a friend from Oklahoma to Kansas City to go to a Josh Turner concert at the
Harrah's casino. Of course, like always we were running late and still had to pick up the tickets. As soon as we turned into
the parking lot we saw a huge tent and the 7 Harrah's car parked in front of it. I ran inside to check into our room and found
out that yes, Robby and many other guys were signing out front. Well, I had a decision to make, go upstairs and change for the
concert, or wear the clothes we had on and meet Robby instead. Of course I chose the latter. My friend and I ran upstairs
to our room, grabbed the camera and ran back down to the tent in front of the hotel. After standing in line for about 15 minutes
I finally got to meet him! I was so excited and of course I HAD to tell Robby the dilemma my friend and I had faced. He was
so excited that we met him instead of changing for the concert that he got up from his chair and gave me a high five! Then I spilled
the beans that it was also my birthday and he'd made it soooo much better! Well, that got me a hug from him, and when he went to
sign my autograph he made sure he put my name on it AND put Happy B-Day on there! That was the best!! Oh and we did make it
to the concert on time, just in the clothes we traveled in, but hey, Robby was more important!

I went to school with Robby. Always a nice guy, in high school I believe he was racing motorcross. When he began racing for professionally, of course there was no other driver to cheer on but Robby. He looks exactly the same, great smile. Still a fan Robby, watch you every race it drives my kids crazy. Good luck this weekend, Baja and Dover. Have fun and be safe. yeah still waiting for my signed autograph. God bless, El Modena High
Ok. To understand how I met Robby there's a back-story involved. I admit, I wasn't always a Robby fan. There was a time, long ago, that I was a Dale Jr. fan. I've since seen the error of my ways. I've been going to Daytona since I was 11, and the first time I was ever there, my dad met an old friend who offered to take "the cute little girl" into the garage to see the drivers. I met Jr. After standing out front of his hauler in the scorching heat. Just standing there. He could see me, I know he could. To this day, I get kind of mad that he didn't even acknowledge me, or run out to see me. My dad, two years later, after going to the Daytona 500 (I could never go in February), came home with an interesting story. He’d met Robby, and his then girlfriend Jessica in the infield. He said he was a real nice guy and all, but my dad, being completely drunk at the time, insisted that Jessica dance. Robby, needless to say, did not really like that. That July, the dad of the Busch race, Robby was on the other side of a fence that separated the infield from the Garage. My dad, and another friend helped Robby over, and even though he was late, he still stopped to chat, and sign anything we could find, even among my dad's comments of "hey...where's Jessica?". I decided the next day while visiting Robby’s merchandise stall as he was signing autographs that I needed a life change. I bought a Robby Gordon hat, and a bright orange shirt (Robby was driving the 31 then). Robby signed the hat, and I was enthralled. He was much nicer than Jr. had ever been, and more personable. The next day, the day of the 400, I walked down pit lane. I walked straight passed the Jr. pit, (which, sadly to say, as usual, was overcrowded with people, one of whom stepped on my foot nearly tripping me) to Robby's pit. No one was there except for Robby's crew, who, immediately upon seeing me fully decked in Robby apparel motioned for me to come over and all six or seven of them signed my shirt. Since this, I've never considered a race complete without seeing Robby. I passed up the opportunity to watch four rookies (two of whom were Carl Edwards and Kyle Busch) play horseshoes to try my luck at the Robby Gordon "window" (if you haven't been to Daytona recently, this might not make sense). To my immediate joy, Robby was there, and only after a moment of waiting did he come over to sign my hat. I've been to Daytona every year since I've been 11- I'm turning 18 this year. According to my figures, that’s six trips to Florida, from Virginia. Almost half a day with my dad in a cramped car. Every single time, no matter what luck Robby's been having, he's still the same happy-go-lucky guy I remember. Kayleigh VA
We met Robby on a dream weekend. A co-worker won the Jim Beam weekend in Charlotte last October. My husband has been a Robby fan since his indy car days. We had the best 6 day trip anyone could on ever have. We had hot passes for the races. Watched the bush race from the top on the hauler, ate lunch at a local restaurant, and went go-carting one late night with Robby. He was gracious and kind to everyone. My husband in still on cloud nine from the trip!!
We met Robby last Sunday Feb. 26 06 in the parking lot of the California Speedway. He was leading the merchandise trailer out about 7:30 that night. He stopped in his Black suv and my buddy Mike said he had a lovely looking blond in the front seat with him. Took time to sign autographs and said hi to my girlfriend and my friend and his wife. Just thought that was pretty KOOL If Robby is on the infield in Sept at California Speedway he needs to come by row 2 turn 2 space 90 and see the Fans Against Gordon bar (That would be the other Gordon).
My name is Nellie and I just love Robby. I think he is just wonderful. I really like your web site. I pray that one day I'll get to honor to Robby. Hope 2006 is a good year for him. If you would like to e-mail me back and maybe we can talk about Robby.
I have been following Robby since he drove Davey Allison's car after his death. I have always raved like an idiot
about Robby and swore that I would be uncontrollable should I ever come face to face with him. Imagine my embarrassment
when at a Richmond night race, I met Robby at his trailer and found that I could not even speak! Kudos to Robby for
being such a sweetheart with everyone and posing for pictures- too bad I was too afraid to go up and get mine taken!!!!!!!

Found you through Jayski and want to join the fan club but could not find the right link I guess....anyway, we met Robby
at Infineon Raceway at the 2005 race.
My husband had a crate of Robby's die cast cars that he wanted to get autographed and we lugged them around all morning along
with hats, credential holders, trading cards and such. I thought Robby would have a fit when he saw all my husband, Randy,
had for him to sign. The personal at Robby's trailer knew we had this load of stuff and were carting it around the
track (which was no small feat givin the size of the place) so we were told we could leave it there in trust to them and see
what could be done when Robby came to do his autograph session later that day. We went back at the scheduled time and
waited in line, I got my hat signed and a couple of trading cards, Robby was very gracious, Randy had a couple of things
signed next and told Robby that he also had a few things to be signed inside the trailer if he had time, Robby said he
would see what he could do. Long line came and went, time was up, crew was anxious for Robby to get back to the track
and lo and behold one of Robby's guys came out the back door of the trailer and told my husband to come on inside. Robby
had invited him in while he signed all of his cars and also had the man come back outside to get me so I could come in with
them. Robby was totally awesome to be so patient with Randy, he signed everything, was very humble about it and was a
true gentleman. They got to talk for a few minutes and I took a photo of them together which my husband will cherish
forever. It was probably one of the best moments of his life as he is no doubt one of Robby's biggest fans. Heaven
help Robby next year at Infineon as Randy now has all the new die cast cars that have since come out with the number 7,
and the 83 Red Bull........and I mean all of them. Bought him a Fruit of the Loom Fender from one of Robby's old Busch
Body's and thank god it came already signed!!! Please let me know how we can join the fan club as our house is all
Robby all the time.........our cat is even named Robby. Thanks and Happy Dakar!!!!!!! Robin and Randy
p.s. I have attached a picture of the Mini Garage that my husband built for Robby.....it's pretty clever.......also on Robby's
web site for fan photos.
It was back in 97 at Bristol I think, the year that he drove for Felix Sabates... He had just finished qualifying and
didn’t make the field. I was walking on the south side of the track when I noticed a driver walking next to me very
casually. I looked over and realized that it was Robby. I played it cool and talked with the guy normally, and
didn’t act star-struck. He was very kind, but you could tell he was pissed. He shook my hand as he neared the
driver’s motor home area and told me to “Enjoy your weekend.” I thought that his demeanor was very nice and he didn’t
have to make small talk with a fan after the qualifying let down. I’ve followed Robby ever since. He just a great
all-around driver.

I met robby after the 2002 sharpie 500 at bristol, my best friend his brother my cousin and me were leaning over the
grandstands when robby drove out of the track on his jacked up golf cart. He had 4 extremly good-looking women on the
golf cart with him. We all proceded to flick him off and he flicked us back off it was priceless. Two weeks later
at richmond we met robby at the merchndise trailer and asked him if he remembered flicking us off. He said "hell
yeah, you all were just jelous of my hott chicks" we all agreed. I was the coolest thing ever.

I first met Robby at Talledega in 2004. Very nice to my children. We went back to his trailer this year in Talledega. He had such a good time with everyone there and really seemed to enjoy being there!! He had FUN with the crowd and he was SOOO great with the kids. A little boy in a wheelchair came by and Robby MADE his day. I have always cheered for him after my regular favorite, but after meeting Robby and seeing his personality with his fans, he has moved to the top of the list! Also, I was so glad that he did not require a ticket to get his autograph. Robby and another driver were the only ones that didn't need a ticket.
I met Robby in Chicago ... I had dinner with him at Harrah's ... I have been a big fan of his and told him that meeting me
would be good luck for him (I was just kidding) but it seems that things have picked up. I have Italian Powers LOL and
have passed good Karma on to him. Tell him Mariann from Chicago who gave him my fire department shirt knew all along that
he would start doing great things on the track. He is a great driver and the nicest person ... I really liked him and
Rene ... would love to hear from him and am buying the nickle plated race car from Harrah's. And also tell him that
I am a sponsor ... been losing my A.. at Harrah's Casino so I bought him another ride for next year. I will be seeing
him in LV in March since I am good friends with a Casino Host in LV. He definately ROCKS ... but I always knew he
would come back strong ... he proved it this weekend. Mariann Hjellum Mmede6@aol.com
(I was the lady with the racing shoes on) He will remember.
Hi.... I just wanted to tell you my wife and I have finally found our driver.... Since Dale died I have had no
driver... Well, Robby drove for RCR and his crew chief, Kevin Hamlin was a friend of mine, so I sort of latched
on.... Then I met him on the lake, Lake Norman, while he was on his jet ski with his girlfriend. He got her
all wet with a sharp turn.. Very funny stuff.. But.... Then after Nascar 360 and his performance Sunday
I am hooked.. He NEVER quit and was fast !! That is a real driver!!! My wife and are both fans
now!! We live in Mooresville and now can root for the local guy.... Go #7

I am a huge RG fan. I even had the privilege of building his indy car. Unfortunately I didn't have the
opportunity
of meeting him, since I was off the day he visited the factory (valparaiso). I am so sad that that the race car factory
here closed. But I still have unopened models of his nextel cup series cars and indy car models. GO ROBBY GO.
You have a loyal fan here.

I did not meet him personally. I was a race event volunteer at the Cleveland Grand Prix, I helped build the
tire walls. Anyway, I saw Robby pull his travel bus (A big bus, maybe thirty plus feet) with an attached
trailer into the paddock area. Witch unto itself is no great feet. But I watched him back the bus and the
trailer into the tightest spot perfectly in one try. I was like "damb!", this guy can drive. And I was fan
ever since.

Who, in their right mind, wouldn't like to meet Robbie. I saw him at a talk show in
Daytona, a few years back, when he first started in Nascar, and again, he was the only one who had any time for a fan. So
many young girls after him, I was really worried, they might just kidnap him. Robbie you sure are a handsome young man.
Too bad God didn't make enough Robbies for everyone. Nascar should have a vote on who is the BEST LOOKING DRIVER.
Why not, we have most popular. All you girls who are lucky enough to get close to Robbie, give him a big hug from
me and I am your friend in FLORIDA.

The first time and only time but not the last time, I met Robby was at Bristol, TN in August, 2004. All the other
drivers were flying past us on the carts with maybe a wave or not. But Robby actually stopped his cart, got off and talk
to us. He signed autographs and took pictures too. I will send my picture with Robby when I figure out how
too!!! From that moment on I was a Robby Gordon fan. He wasn't too busy for us, his fans, and I hope he never
is. That is the problem with too many of the drivers today. Robby, you keep stopping and talking and we will
always be your fans. I say having a race car driver idol starts with the man himself and all will fall into place
thereafter. Thanks,

I am a 17 year old who has been following Robby closely for the past three years. I had met his father in
2003. After chatting for approximately 45 minutes he could see that I was obviously loco over Robby. He invited
me to come and watch the night race at California speedway, I obviously jumped at the chance, but it was more than a year
away. In March of 2004 I received tickets to the May race! Bob Gordon (his father) gave my father, brother,
friend, friends father, and me some infield passes. He called and said that he would be able to take me behind the wall
while the engines were running, and I would even be able to sit in the cingular wireless box behind the pits during the
race!! Bob arrived late to the race so I didn't get to meet Robby before the race. Bob had to get back to the
pits while I was chatting with some other fans. Understandably he had to leave without me when he couldn't find
me. We spent the race in the infield at Robby Gordon's camp. This is where all of his family and closest friends
watched the race from. This day in California it was about 95 degrees and all were miserable, especially the
drivers. Despite the heat Robby was having an excellent day, running in the top 5 for most of the day. On the
last lap Robby was in third place when he ran out of gas, finishing in 12th place. We all decided to stick around for
awhile after hearing Robby would be back soon to say Hi. About an hour later he drove up in his dune buggy and parked
100 yards away. I was grabbing a red bull from a cooler when my brother whispers "Brian there he is." I turned
quickly to look for him and just get a glance of him walking into his grandfather's motor home. Instantly a line
of at least thirty people formed to greet him and get autographs. I was completely bummed out. Then about fifteen
minutes later Bob opens the door and says, "Brian, Brian come here" I just froze, not believing my ears. He said
again "Brian come here, you can bring your friend and brother also." I then headed for the door, bypassing the fifty
people now in line, and their harsh glances. I walked inside and was amazed to see Robby amongst seven of his
family members. We shook hands and chatted for about ten minutes. This moment was absolutely amazing and I will
never forget my first and so-far only meeting of Robby Gordon.

Hi, my name is Gaylene and I am new to the RG world and so far I like what I see. My daughter and I met him in Sonoma
Ca. this year and although I have to admit I really didn't like him at first, like many I only seen Rob on the track and thought
he was an ass. Then a while back I seen his double duty on Speed Channel and thought he was nicer then I gave him
credit. A few years passed and never really followed him until we met him. My daughter really didn't like him but
we stumbled across him at trackside. He was the guest and I thought I'd try to get his attention and have him come over
and get a picture and an autograph. My daughter said if he comes over I will change my opinion about him. As soon
as it was over he came right over to us and spent a little time with us, I was even more impressed with him after talking to
him. She has changed her opinion and she likes him now. We have been fortunate enough to meet about 25-30 drivers
and he is among the few really nice drivers. After that we started following him. I found your website off of Robs
website and I was impressed with your site and your dedication to him. So I'm
writing to you to find out more about
him. I really don't know where to go to find more info on him such as is he married what is her name, how long have they
been married, children, or dating what is her name how long have they been dating, does he have sisters, brothers, nieces,
nephews are his parent still married, is he close to his family? I know the info off his site about him. But you
can really tell a lot about a person from their family life and their relationship with their family. I hope you don't
mind me emailing you. I figured you were a big fan and wouldn't mind getting to know other fans. As you might of
figured I'm from California, I've always liked nascar but never really followed it. Then my brother moved to NC. and
went to work for Geoff Bodine, in the fab shop for a while before getting offered a position at DEI. With nascar in
the family there was no way around not liking nascar.
Thank you for your time,
Gaylene
As a long time Robby fan (back to days of his full time 'CART' racing), he was one of two drivers (the other being
Kyle Petty, of course) in the NASCAR Cup series that I really wanted to meet. Well I finally got my chance in 2000
at Sears Point. On Saturday, after Happy Hour, we waited by the drivers parking lot as all the garages closed and
the drivers left in their rental cars. Of all the drivers we saw leaving, only Robby and Boris Said came to the
fence and signed autographs. Robby stayed for a very long time and made sure that he talked to everyone he signed
for. I am sure that everyone that wanted an autograph, got one. Robby is one of the nicest people I have
had the pleasure to meet.
Thanks
Oregon race fan
I have never met Robby but this weekend at Homestead he really out classed the field. My wife and I attend two
races per year, Daytona and Homestead. We were in the garage area before the race and watched the drivers work their
way into the drivers meeting and back to their haulers. We say EVERY driver. Only ONE looked at the fans, waved,
and signed autographs. What a class act. This guy has not forgotten the most important part of NASCAR. The
fans. I've liked Stewart since his Busch days and my wife is a huge Martin fan. We watch every race and hear the
negatives about Robby. But we got to see first hand who cares about their fans. Robby if your listening, let us know
what your new colors are and where we can get your gear and we want to met you in Daytona. Good luck with the new
team in 2005.

Hi Jen, Hope I didn't hit the send button by accident! Here goes!
It's been quite a week and I had to collect before sending! Loudon as we all know was not Robby's finest! However,
the media firestorm blew things totally out of proportion! Robby has been pretty severely punished by Nascar, his owner,
the fans and most of the news media! It is time to let things go and move on!
As usual I had a great time in Loudon and got to see and talk to Robby on a couple of different occasions - Friday night and
Sunday morning! Friday night he did come out to his trailer after qualifying was cancelled (can you say monsoon), and he
was totally bummed out because he had a good qualifying run! Well, a Robby friend and I got him to laughing and he just
cracked up! That seemed to relax him because he was his usual self after that! At one point he was trying to bargain
with me for the Cingular uniform jacket after I told him it was too expensive (no I still haven't bought it)! Sunday
morning comes, and Oh God, he recognized me! Needless to say, he was picking on me, but I gave as good as I got!
All in all, I will say that my opinion of Robby Gordon remains steadfast! He is absolutely one of the nicest people you
will ever meet!
Carol Bartlett

Thursday night before the Loudon race, Robby made an appearance at the Cingular
store in Nashua, NH. I made my husband take me and stood in line with others -
some Robby fans some not! He was a bit late (this is not unusual) but we all
cheered him anyway and he seemed pleased! I was particularly impressed with how
he handled himself with two little boys. They were probably around 6ish and he
called them over individually, asked their names, signed their cards, then
"schooched" down so he was on their level for pictures! My turn came and I went
up and chatted with him for a minute and then pulled out my Rocky and Bullwinkle
diecast - he seemed to be impressed to be signing one of the "old ones." Friday
was overcast for quals and he ran well but still ended up around 21st (story of
the year.) Saturday I hung out around his trailer a little, bought a few things,
and then Tina in his trailer said he was going to come out before the Busch
race! I had bought a hat which I asked him to sign, but I also had with me a
poster from his Sabates days in '97! When I rolled it out in front of him, he
said "Wow, I haven't seen one of these in a long time!" It's the coolest
poster! Now for Sunday which was a bright sunny day (do we see the problem
yet?) Robby came out to his trailer to "schmooze" with the fans (he loves it and
so do we.) I got a couple of cars signed, took pics, had my pic taken with him, and then
got ready for the race! It was the very first Nascar race I had ever seen and I
had a great time! I had my headphones and scanner so I could listen to
everything he said, which was fine, except his car was garbage, they totally
missed the set-up, and he spent the day being incredibly frustrated!!! I felt so
bad for him!!! All in all the weekend was totally awesome - I got to see and chat
with Robby several times and it just reinforced my opinion that he is one of the
nicest people you will ever meet!!!! Can't wait to back in September and see him
again!
Carol
i watched robby pulling wheelies on a honda mini-trail many years ago. this week is our redemption. i have been
his no.1 fan and supporter since the days he put the iron man in the weeds in his stadium ford truck. i will tell you-get

I want to say a personal "thank you" for your cool website. I have always admired Robby Gordon but, after seeing him in
person for the first time in Nashville at the April Busch race and listening to him on the scanner, I have become a true
believer! This guy is the sharpest tool in the shed. He is one helluva driver but he is also very smart and
personable as well. I was delighted to read the fun facts, quotes, and 31 questions -- such information as this is hard
to find about Robby because, unfortunately, too many of the media sort of disregard him unless there is some kind of incident
on-track and then he usually gets the blame whether he was involved or not. (Would you believe, after the Pocono race I
actually read one report that said Robby spun out Tony Stewart (!?!) and Ryan Newman and another that said he spun out Michael
Waltrip. Oh, please!!!) Anyway, keep up the good work and keep posting the good stuff on our boy!

Well, I met Robby with one of my favorite cousins. She is almost at stalker status. We went up for the Brickyard
but the day before the time trials we had to go see him near Indy at a Cingular store. The next day we went to time
trials and I saw my first NASCAR time trials. We ran up to see a car go by. I thought it was really loud. My
cuz said she would never forget the look on my face. I was pretty scared and amazed. It was awesome. We had to
stalk Robby's garage and trailer for a long time but it was fun. I also saw an IROC race I thought that was cool
too. The next day was the Brickyard. We sat really high and we could see a long way. The first time the
cars went by it was so loud and amazing. It was so cool. My cuz and I had a great time. We saw Robby many
times, Cingular Store, in his ugly box of a car, on his 4 wheel drive golf cart and at his trailer store thing. Well,
I had a great time!
Hey Jen Guess who? ... (my cousin, Emily)
Last September (2003) in Loudon, New Hampshire I fulfilled a dream and got to meet Robby at his trailer! I had been
parking cars all day that Saturday, was hot, tired and dusty and looked like a total grub! Well to make a long story short
I stopped by his trailer to get a t-shirt and saw the sign that he was coming out after the truck race. I told my husband
that I was staying to meet him no matter how long it took! After waiting for about an hour and leaning on his trailer to
keep from keeling over from exhaustion (I had been up since three that AM) I got to actually see him! As I got closer I
got more and more nervous! Not sure why I was so nervous because he was unbelievably gracious and friendly! A nice
lady in line took my picture with Robby, I got my autograph and then left thinking that this guy was just about the nicest person
I'd met in a long time! I have heard the horror stories about some of the drivers ( I will not mention any names) and would
say to them that they need to take a lesson from Robby about public relations!
He is absolutely the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--Carol Bartlett
The first time I met Robby was in 1989, I believe. I was working for Enduro racing at the time and it was the weekend of the L.A. coliseum race and without dragging this out, Robby pissed of old man "Walker Evans" and a fight broke out between the pit crews. He knows how to stir the shit, that's for sure.
